bulletAll Jenkintown teachers are "Highly Qualified" according to the definition of the U.S. Department of Education.
bulletOn the 2005 PSSA test for 8th and 11th graders Jenkintown scored in the first quintile of all schools in Pennsylvania for both math and reading scores
bulletPhiladelphia Magazine ranked Jenkintown High School among its top 50 high schools in the metropolitan region, 28th to be exact.  Relatively low teacher salaries actually hurt the ranking of the school under their methodology.  (We think it should have been #1.)
bulletMiddle-High School Language Arts teacher Tamara Craven has achieved the prestigious National Board Certification in English
bulletGifted support teacher Mark Stover was selected as a finalist for Pennsylvania Teacher of the Year! He was featured in a May 24, 2006 article on the front page of the Times Chronicle (see here).

bulletSixth grade teacher Teresa M. Morretta has written two books with a colleague entitled Practical Approaches for Teaching Reading and Writing in Middle Schools (2000) and Poetry Workshop for Middle School:  Activities That Inspire Meaningful Language Learning (2003), both published by the International Reading Association
bulletMiddle-High School Social Studies teacher Daniel Chittick, faculty sponsor of World Affairs and Model United Nations, attended the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia's conference "Islam and the West" on May 1, 2006, which included as speakers Vice President Richard Cheney, former Secretary of State and National Security Advisor Henry Kissinger, noted scholar of Islam Professor Bernard Lewis, Senator Joseph Biden, author Walter Russell Mead, and PBS journalist Judy Woodruff.

Seven teachers in the elementary school, Karen DeMarco, George Vafiadis, Tom Roller, Bonnye Kelman, Megan Knox, Doris Heise and Mark Stover coached our three Reading Olympics , who were winners of two blue ribbons and one red ribbon at the competition held at Hatboro Horsham High School.

TV Turnoff Week was a huge success in the elementary school with 128 students participating.

bulletEdith Guay and Christine Fylypovych organized and chaperoned the high school exchange trip to France from March 31 to April 14, 2006
bulletDick Detwiler and Mike Brophy chaperoned World Language students' trip to Spain in April 2007.
